what is ^x ? square root? If so, we have
(√x - 1/x)^2
= x - 2/√x + 1/x^2
3+2^2 = 3+4 = 7, so we have
7 - 2/√7 + 1/49
That's kind of strange, so maybe you can clarify the notation and the grouping. Some parentheses would be helpful in that regard.
