17 * 5 = 85
12 +24 +20 +18 +x = 74

85-74 = 11

How about if it was this way a basketball player scores 22, 19, 25, and 17 points in four games. How many points does the basketball player need to score in the fifth game to average 24 points scored per game?

24*5=120

22+19+25+17+x=83

120-83=37

so 37 would be the answer.
