Q. Mr. Kincaid's class wants to plant 1/4 (fraction) of its 12-foot-square plot with tomatoes. Of the remaining garden, 1/3 will be pears. Of the rest of the plot,1/2 will be radishes, and 1/2 will be lettuce. How many square feet of radishes will the class plant.?

4 answers

tomatoes: (1/4)(12) = 3
remainder = 9

pears = (1/3)(9) = 3
remainder = 6

radishes = (1/2) of 6 = 3
leaving 3 for the lettuce

so 3 ft^2 of radishes
