well the tigris and euphrates are in mesopotamia which today is known as iraq and syria and the valley of the nile in egypt, mesopotamia and egypt influenced early civilizations in western asia and northern africa among them were the hittites and the syro- plaestinian city states.

Because of annual flooding and irrigation systems, these people grew more food than they could get by their previous hunting-and-gathering economies. When people settled down to farm, not everyone was needed to supply food. Some people were then free to develop literature, laws, and government. These rivers were the centers of our earliest civilizations.
