Answered by Reiny
-2x + 9y = 3
-3x - 4y = 22

first equation times 3
-6x + 27y = 9
second equation times -2
6x + 8y = -44

add the new equations:
35y = -35
y = -1
sub back into original -2x + 9y = 3
-2x - 9 = 3
-2x = 12
x = -6

x= -6 , y = -1

of course you should realize that there are many other ways to solve this, that was just my choice.
