x = 1 + cos t
y = 1 - sin t
cos t = (x-1)
sin t = (1-y)
cos^2 t = (x-1)^2
sin^2 t = (1-y)^2

t = y-1 so t^2 = y^2-2y+1
so
y^2-2y+1 = 1 - x
t = y-1 so t^2 = y^2-2y+1
so
