Are you solving for x?
Is the equation (1/2)x + 6 = (1/3)x.
Multiply both sides by 6.
(1/2)*6x + 6 = (1/3)*6x
3x + 36 = 2x
3x-2x=-36
x=-36
===================
Always check it by substituting the answer into the original equation.
(1/2)x + 6 = (1/3)x
(1/2)*-36 + 6 = (1/3)*-36
-18+6=-12
-12=-12
