1: B($20)- Math: If it is an annual interest and this goes on for one year and the principal is $400 and the rate is 5% then turn 5% to 0.05, multiply it by 400 and get this: 400d*0.05r*1y= 20dr/y d=dollars, r=rate, /=per, y=year(s)
2: A($255)-Math: If it is an annual interest and this goes on for three years and the principal is $1000 and the rate is 8.5% then turn 8.5% to 0.085, multiply it by 1000 and get this: 1,000d*0.085r*1y=85dr/y but because it is three years, we multiply this by three to get: 85dr/y*3=255dr/3y. That is $255 for the three years.
3: A($9)-Math: If it is an annual interest rate and this goes on for 1/2 years, (6 months) and the principal is $200 and the rate is 9% then we turn 9% into 0.09 but because it is for 1/2 years we will divide it by 2 then we get: 200d*0.09*1y=18dr/y or $18 but because it is one half of a year we get: $18/2=$9, for the six months.
4: B($600)-Math: If it is an annual rate and this goes on for 3 months (1/4 of a year) and the principal is $20,000 and the rate is 12% then we turn the 12% into 0.12 but because it is for 1/4 years we will divide it by 4 then we get: $20,000*0.12r*1y= $2400r/y but because it is only for 1/4 of a year we divide this by 4 then we get: $2400/4=$600 for the three months.
Now for the one you have been fighting about for waaay to long and the backing of math to prove it to be the right answer to end this 3-4 year long debate I give you question 5:
5:D(1,227) No doubt about it, it is not C, it used to be C but now its D-Math: To prove this answer is right the rate is annual and this goes on for 6 months (1/2 of a year) and at a rate of 4.5% we turn this into 0.045 but because it is only 6 months and not a full year we will divide it by 2. It is very important to mention the question wants us to find the interest that is added to the principal not just the interest alone like the previous 4 questions. Knowing all of this we get: $1200*0.045*1y=$54r/y but since it is for 1/2 a year we divide it by two which gets: $54/2=$27. Because also we need to find the total price we add the interest ($27) to the original price, or principal ($1200) we get $27+$1200=$1,227 for the 6 months. This answer is 2019 approved, April Edition, with evidential math, and ends the dispute for all time, that the single only answer for question number 5 on Lesson 6 of Unit 3 of Quarter 3 of Half semester 2 in Math 7th grade for 2019 is D.
