x = 7/10
y = 2(7/10) + 4
y = 14/10 + 4

subtract (1) from (2)
14x - 7 = 0
14x = 7
x = 7/14 = 0.5
substitute 0.5 for x in (1)
y = 12(0.5) - 3
y = 6 - 3
