Recall that perimeter of rectangle is two times the sum of length and width, or
P = 2(l + w)
If we let x as length and the value of perimeter is given, therefore,
50 = 2(x + w)
Solving for w,
50 = 2x + 2w
50 - 2x = 2w
w = (50 - 2x)/2
w = 25 - x
