logan isn't 2 years older than Lindsey. Five years ago the sum of their ages was 30. Find Lindsey current age. X-5+2x-5=30.
-1 + 0= 30. I don't think this right I tried I can't get the right answer. According to the common core the answer is supposed to be 19. Please help I tried but can't get the answer. I really need the answer before Thursday thank you so much.

    If you meant that Logan is twice as old as Lindsay, then you are correct in setting it up as you did. Your solution, however, is bogus.
x-5 + 2x-5 = 30
3x - 10 = 30
3x = 40
x = 40/3
No joy there.
If it should have read Logan is 2 years older than Lindsay, then the equation is
(x-5)+(x+2-5) = 30
2x-8 = 30
2x = 38
x = 19
Your assertion that Logan isn't 2 years older than Lindsey does not provide any useful information
