Can someone please help me figure out whether aqueous sodium sulfite is acidic or basic?
I know it is a salt produced from sodium hydroxide and sulfur dioxide.

The pH is determined by the hydrolysis of the salt.
SO3^2- + HOH ==> HSO3^2- + OH^-
so it will be basic.
