Are acids or bases suppose to react with carbonates?

Acids react with carbonates to produce H2O and CO2 + a metal salt of the acid
CuCO3 + 2HCl ==> H2O + CO2 + CuCl2
CuCO3 + 2HCl ==> H2O + CO2 + CuCl2
