Oh, and this is subtracting integers. If that helps.
#1 sometimes
6-2 = 4 > 0
2-6 = -4 < 0

#2 sometimes
-3 - -5 = 2 > 0
-5 - -3 = -2 < 0

#3 always
#4 never

if by "the difference between a and b" you mean "a - b"
