I still don't get it..please help,

The average of two numbers is 81. The difference between the number is 26. What is the smaller number?

(x + y)/2 = 81
x - y = 26

x + y = 162
x - y = 26
----------------
2x = 188
x = 94

94 - y = 26
y = 68
