a rectangular tank 10inches by 8 inches by 4 inches is filled with water if all of the water is to be transferred to cube shaped tanks each one 3 inches on a side how many of these smaller tanks are needed?

volume of big tank = 10x8x4 or 320 inches^3

volume of a little tank = 3x3x3 or 27 inches^3

number of little tanks = 320/27 = 11.8..

you will need 12 tanks, the last one will be not quite full.
