The length of a rectangle is 2 more than 3 times the width. If the perimeter is 100 meters, what is the width of the rectangle?

2 answers

2(x+y) = 100
But, y = 3x+2, so
2(x+3x+2) = 100
...
P = 2L + 2W

100 = 2(3W + 2) + 2W

100 = 8W + 4

96 = 8W

12 = W
