the distance from the sun to earth is about 1.5x10^11 meters. suppose light travels at a speed of 3x10^8 meters per second. About how long does it take light from the sun to reach earth? PLEASE HELP!!!

time = distance/speed, so it takes

1.5x10^11 / 3x10^8 = 0.5x10^3 seconds

We all know it takes light about 8 minutes (480 seconds) to reach the earth. .5x10^3 = 500 is pretty close.

Since Speed=Distance/Time
Therefore Time=Distance/Speed
=1.5 x 10^11m/3 x 10^8ms^-1
=500 seconds.
