                A rectangle is to be constructed so that it is bounded by the x-axis, the y-axis, and the line y = -3x + 4.  What is the maximum area of this rectangle?

    the y-intercept is 4, so the height is 4
the x-intercept is 4/3, so the base is 4/3
area = (1/2)base x height
= (1/2)(4)(4/3) = 8/3 square units
