Yes. Multiply: $9.72 * 0.06 = $0.58
Add: $9.72 + 0.58 = $10.30
For the tip, multiply: $10.30 * 0.15 = ?
Add: $9.72 + 0.58 = $10.30
For the tip, multiply: $10.30 * 0.15 = ?

I must be doing something wrong!
Ex: $34.61 (7% sales tax) and 15% gratuity
I get $40.16. I know that's wrong.
I multiplied 34.61 times 0.07= 2.42; then added; then multiplied times .15...aren't those the steps?

The tax on $34.61 is $2.42.
$34.61 + 2.42 = $37.03 = total owed restaurant
$37.03 * 0.15 = $5.55 tip
Total spent: $37.04 + 5.55 = $42.59
$34.61 + 2.42 = $37.03 = total owed restaurant
$37.03 * 0.15 = $5.55 tip
Total spent: $37.04 + 5.55 = $42.59
