How about using some parentheses, so it's clear just what you mean?
√y+√(y+7)=7
√y = 7-√(y+7)
y = 49 - 14√(y+7) + y+7
14√(y+7) = 56
√(y+7) = 4
y+7 = 16
y = 9
check: √9 + √16 = 7
√(x+11) = √x + 1
x+11 = x + 2√x + 1
11 = 2√x + 1
2√x = 10
√x = 5
x = 25
check: √36 = √25 + 1
√y+√(y+7)=7
√y = 7-√(y+7)
y = 49 - 14√(y+7) + y+7
14√(y+7) = 56
√(y+7) = 4
y+7 = 16
y = 9
check: √9 + √16 = 7
√(x+11) = √x + 1
x+11 = x + 2√x + 1
11 = 2√x + 1
2√x = 10
√x = 5
x = 25
check: √36 = √25 + 1
