Unless he's including dogs and cats in his family, Quinton is right. We assume that each person in his family has two legs.

14 divided by 2 = 7

what an assumption - perhaps evan has 2 siblings that each lost a leg in war then (6 x 2) + (2 x 1] = 12 and 6 + 2=8
