Hmm… The wording in this problem is a little tricky to me, so I'm assuming that its an alternating pattern (poor monkey).

For the first minute the monkey is at 4 meters

For the second minute monkey is at 2 meters ( because he slips down)

So basically every 2 minutes, he's climbing 2 meters

so every minute he's climbing 1 meter

so it's going to take that monkey 15mins to climb 15 meters ( man that monkey is slow!)

Not quite.
After 12 minutes he has climbed 12 meters
In the 13th minute, he climbs the final 3 meters and is done.

Final time is thus 12:45

Ah, that is true! at 12 minutes he did climb 12 meters

and it took him another .45 seconds to climb the rest.
