I don't have any choices, it's a fill in the blank but my book does not mention who found the colleges, only which colleges where found. I looked online and it says many women colleges arose during the 19th century, involving many women educators.

Does your book say anything about clergymen founding colleges and universities?

It doesn't state the word clergymen specifically but mentions that Charles G. Finney (a religious man) became the professor of theology and president at the new Oberlin College in Ohio.

I definitely don't think that women founded many colleges then. Very few women even went to college until well into the 20th century.
I couldn't find anything online about college and university founders in the mid-19th century.
