Can someone explain how to do this?

Don't know how to explain it though it's just the oposite of X negative to positive, positive to negative. Hope that made some sense.

Try looking at it this way.
x = -98/73
multiply both sides by -1
-1*x = -1*(-98/73)
-x = +98/73
