The ratio of North American butterflies to South American butterflies is 5:3. The ratio to South American butterflies to European butterflies is 3:2. There are 30 North American butterflies at the butterfly park. Question A. How many South American butterflies are there? B. How many European butterflies are there? NA : SA = 5 : 3 , SA : E = 3 : 2
So, NA : SA : E = 5 : 3 : 2 = 5x : 3x : 2x
given: NA = 30
5x = 30
x = 6
then NA = 30
SA = 18
E = 12
So, NA : SA : E = 5 : 3 : 2 = 5x : 3x : 2x
given: NA = 30
