Jordan is making a beaded necklace, 2/3 of the beads she uses are red and 4/21 of the beads are blue, she wants the rest to be white, what fraction of the beads should be white?

2/3 = 14/21
21-14-4 = the # of the beads left
that # = 3
so 3 bead should be white

let x be the total number of beads

2x/3 + 4x/21 + whites = x
times 21
14x + 4x + 21whites = 21x
21whites = 3x
whites = (1/7)x or (1/7) of the total
