The scale of the map is 1:1000. What are the actual dimensions of a rectangle which appears as 4cm by 3cm on the map? What is the area on the map in cm2. What is the actual area in m2.

area on map = 12 cm^2

actual size of rectangle = 4000 cm by 3000 cm
or 40 m by 30 m
real area = 1200 m^2

4000x3000= 12000
Thus, 12cm2
40x30= 1200
Thus, 1200m2
