    for the first one, multiply each term by (x-1)(x+5)
-2(x+5) + 3(x+5) = 4(x-1)
expand and solve....
for the second one, I assume you meant :
1/(2x+7) = 3/(4x-4)
cross-multiply ....
6x+21 = 4x-4
2x = -25
x = -25/2

-2(x+5) + 3(x+5) = 4(x-1)
