Can anyone explain this equation.
Simplify by removing factors of 1.
q^2-64/(q+8)^2

I don't know what you mean by "factors of one", but the numerator can be written (q+8)(q-8), so you can do some cancelling of q+8 terms in numerator and denominator. You will end up with (q-8)/(q+8)
