Write and then solve the equation for the following. Please correct me if I'm wrong!!

1. If 3x+2x is equal to 15, what is the value of x?
Answer: x=3

2. If three times the quantity (4y-2) is equal to 18, what is the value of y?
Answer: y=1

If y=1, 4y-2=2 and 3*2 is not 18

You should have done

3(4y-2) = 18
4y-2 = 6
4y = 8
y = 2
