My answer is 51.3

9^ means 9^.5 or 9^2 or 9^.7315 or what?

from your answer I am guessing 9^2
11 (81 - 25) /(12)
= 51 1/3 yes

I'm sorry about that but we have been told to use that symbol for a number being squared and I just use it out of habit.
