I have to write a two page essay on whether or not I think that there is a culture war going on in America right now. I say that there is, and my examples are same-sex marriage, immigration, and abortion. Are these good examples?

Yes. I think they are good examples. As you research, though, you might want to change one of them.

Okay. I think I have to change immigration, right?

Since it's more of a legal/illegal situation, rather than a moral/immoral.

The feelings about immigration are both legal and moral. But, you may find something you'd rather include in your culture wars.

One very specific result of a "culture war" can be found in the data regarding movie viewership, and I don't just mean the declining numbers.
Read several articles here and see what you think:

Ms. Sue, drugs!

I'd limit the drugs to recreational marijuana.
Also -- what about public displays of religion -- such as mangers in public parks and prayers in public schools?

This is my paragraph for racism, but I don't know where I'm going with it.
"Another topic that adds to the culture war in America is racism. During the 17th century, America practiced slavery. It was part of the culture. Slaves, usually African Americans, were treated like animals. They were always the minority. The 13th Amendment abolished slavery in 1865, but colored people were still the minority. Today, over 100 years later, many people believe that they still are the minority. When you think about it, African Americans have come a long way."

Now find examples of racism that still exists.
