I have to construct my initials J and E geometrically. I drew a base line with two points. Then I drew a line through them. I thought this was right for the E but it's not. What am I doing wrong? I do know how to make a parallel and perpendicular lines.

You drew a line through two points? That's certainly the first step, but it's not the letter E.
You still need to draw three perpendicular lines; two at the ends of your line, and one in the middle.

Thank you, but what do I do for the letter J? Do I do the same thing with a perpendicular line and add a ray for the small part of thwe J?

how about a line, and then a semicircle? Just draw a short perpendicular to the line (don't actually draw it), and then, using that as the radius, draw a semicircle touching the end of the line.
