A person traveling in an airplane at 100 MPH throws a coin straight up into the iar. Where does the coin land and why?

The coin goes straight up, then falls straight down to the floor of the airplane. Why doesn't the coin fall on the floor near the back of the plane? Because the coin is traveling at 100 MPH just like the airplane is.
