How do I write an equation for (-3,-8) that has a slope of -2? So far this is what I came up with.
y=mx+b
m=-2
y=-2x+b
-8=-2x-3
y=mx+b
m=-2
y=-2x+b
-8=-2x-3

you replaced the y with -8 , but not the x with -3
Why not?
-8 = -2(-3) + b
-8 = 6 + b
-14 = b
so
y = -2x - 14
Why not?
-8 = -2(-3) + b
-8 = 6 + b
-14 = b
so
y = -2x - 14
