Marc works in a dairy processing plant. He is paid 16.50/h. He is paid time-and-a-half if he works more than 40 hours in a week. Marc worked 54 hours this week. What is his gross pay?

1.5 x 16.50 = 24.75
24.75 x 40 = 990

Answer (what I got): 24.75 + 990 = $1014.75

The answer in the back of my textbook says $1006.50.

16.5 * 40 = 660 >> base pay

24.75 * 14 = 346.50 >> overtime pay

660 + 346.5 = 1006.50 >> total pay
