the answer is b since the lungs are full (inflated, not deflated) and you breath OUT carbon dioxide and breath in oxygen.

Just to add my two cents' worth, I think the question is not clearly stated. I think it makes a difference WHEN. If this is at the START of the inhalation phase you have one answer or if it is at the END of the inhalation phase you have another answer.
