A temperature measurement from earths stratosphere is taken as -70 degree Fahrenheit. The temperature on the earths surface below is found to be 41 degrees Fahrenheit. Find the difference between the surface temperature reading and the stratosphere temperature reading.

41 - 70 = -29

I think Ms Sue took the sum of the two temperatures instead of their difference

41 - (-70)
= 41 + 70
= 111 degrees
