The owner of a clothing store received a shipment of 1,230 pairs of socks. The socks came in 36 boxes. The same number of socks were in 35 of the boxes. How many pairs of socks were in the last box ?

1230-35*35 = 25

Since the same number of pairs are in 35 boxes, that's the number you should be using to divide into the 1,230 pairs...you get 35 with a remainder of 5. The remaining 5 are the number of pairs in the 36th box. Hope this helps you!
