Please help me solve by elimination

. 5x=20+y
16=3y+4x

1 answer

Eq1: 5x - y = 20
Eq2: 4x + 3y = 16

Multiply Eq1 by 3 and add the Eqs:
15x - 3y = 60
+4x + 3y = 16
Sum: 19x = 76
X = 4

In Eq1, replace x with 4 and solve for y:

5*4 - y = 20
20-y = 20
Y = 0.

Solution: (x,y) = (4,0).
