just complete the squares as needed, and balance out what you had to change:
x^2-2x+1 + y^2+2y+1 - 2 - (1+1) = 0
(x-1)^2 + (y+1)^2 = 4
x^2-2x+1 + y^2+2y+1 - 2 - (1+1) = 0
(x-1)^2 + (y+1)^2 = 4
