Eric has two rock samples. One has a mass of 600 grams and the other has a mass of 1 kg. He recorded the total mass as 7 kg. What did he do wrong? What is the correct answer?

600 g + 1 kg
= 600 g + 1000 g
= 1600 g
= 1.6 kg
