A line in coordinate plane contains the points P(2, -7) and Q(-4, -1). What point is the midpoint of PQ?

the midpoint is halfway from one to the other. That means its coordinates are the average of the x- and y- values of the two points:

(-1,-4)

Note that -1 is halfway from 2 to -4 (3 away from both ends)
