Can you show the work of how to work this word problem ? A local electronics store will sell 7 ax adapters and 2 rechargeable flashlights for $86 or 3 ac adapters and 4 rechargeable flashlights for $84. What is the price of a single ax adapter and a single rechargeable flashlight ?

let number of AC adapters be x
let number of flashlights be y

7x + 2y = 86
3x + 4y = 84

double the first equation
14x + 4y = 172
3x + 4y = 84
subtract them
11x = 88
x = 8
sub back into 1st:
7(8) + 2y = 86
2y = 30
y = 15

so 8 adapters and 15 flashlights.
