It will not help you much but I have a recently written book called "The Sea and Civilization". It spends quite a lot of time tracking the plaque through China and the rest of mainland East Asia and then to the Black Sea where it was picked up by a trading vessel from Genoa and introduced by the crew (or the rats in the cargo) to Europe. Due to the recent at that time development of links between Mediterranean, Biscay, English Channel, North Sea, German Bight, Kattegat, Baltic commercial shipping the disease raced around Europe clockwise as fast as the ships could sail.
