Sorry for re-post. Damon answered but I do not see any relate between number.The question is:
Look for a pattern. Have a rectangle with number 10, 16 and 23 in the corners.The circle inside rectangle with 9, 12 and 24 inside circle. Place the numbers from 8 to 26 either inside or outside the circle according to the pattern shown.
(Draw a rectangle : 10 on bottom left then 16 on top left, 23 on other top corner. Draw a circle inside rectangle . Inside the circle: 9 on left, 12 on top, and 24 on right side.)

Is there some kind of grid in the rectangle and circle, or are the numbers to be placed anywhere on a large blank canvas?

No any grid except rectangle and circle.
Inside the circle, number 9 ,12, 24 placed look like a equilateral triangle, which 12 is at the top,9 is the left and 24 is the right .thanks
