L = 2 x + 4

A = L w = (2x+4)(x+2)
= 2 x^2 + 8 x + 8 using foil
or use distributive property

2x(x+2) = 2 x^2 + 4 x
4 (x+2) = 4 x + 8
-------------------------add
2 x^2 + 8 x + 8 remarkable :)
