Assuming of course that he would try the same password more than once, we want
success within 2 attempts
----> He could log in on his first try, or if that fails on his second try.
FS for failure, then success is
Prob(S) + Prob(FS)
= 1/8 + (7/8)(1/7) = 2/8 = 1/4
success within 2 attempts
----> He could log in on his first try, or if that fails on his second try.
FS for failure, then success is
Prob(S) + Prob(FS)
= 1/8 + (7/8)(1/7) = 2/8 = 1/4
