1/4 + 3/4 = 1
They have gone 1/4, so they still have 3/4 of the way to go.
#2
2/3 + 1/3 = 1
so, she still had 1/3 of the way to go
#3
1/2 + 1/2 = 1
They had gone 1/2, so they still had 1/2 hr or 30 min to go
#4
1/12 + 8/12 + 3/12 = 1
They ate 9/12, leaving 3/12 = 1/4 left over
#5
of 9 people, 2 did not eat.
9/14 + 5/14 = 1
There were 5/14 uneaten
#6
No idea how far it was.
But, having gone 1/3 of the way, they still had 2/3 to go, or twice as far as they had already gone.
